
We are thrilled to share that Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, Director of the Research Center, Invention and Innovation Center at Gandaki University, has been appointed as a Young Affiliate of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the Central and South Asia Regions for the term 2025-2030. This prestigious recognition honors Dr. Thapa’s significant contributions to Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, locally, regionally, and globally.
TWAS is a merit-based science academy dedicated to advancing science in developing countries, bringing together over 1,400 scientists from more than 100 nations. Headquartered in Trieste, Italy, TWAS promotes sustainable prosperity through research, education, policy and science diplomacy.
The TWAS Young Affiliates Program annually selects up to 25 outstanding scientists under the age of 40 for a six-year tenure. Affiliates engage closely with TWAS Fellows, participate in General Meetings and Conferences, and contribute to initiatives led by TWAS Regional Partners.
Dr. Thapa is a faculty member and the Director of the Research Center, Invention and Innovation Center at Gandaki University. His research focuses on innovative treatments for cancer and chronic wounds using targeted nanoparticles, gene therapy, and antimicrobial delivery systems. He is also recognized among the top 2% of scientists worldwide, according to a ranking by Stanford University and Elsevier (2020-2024).
